Install Hailian VPN on Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor, OPPO and vivo phones
Hailian's Android client is downloaded as an APK from the official website. Xiaomi HyperOS/MIUI, Huawei HarmonyOS, Honor MagicOS, OPPO ColorOS and vivo OriginOS can add installation checks and background battery restrictions. The exact menus depend on your model, region and system version.
Use the search box in Settings if a menu name differs. Search for Install unknown apps, App launch, Auto-start or Battery optimization.
Download the official package
Open the download page in the phone's browser and select Android. The package name starts with HailianVPN-v and ends in .apk. Open it from the browser's Downloads list after the download finishes.
If the browser blocks the file, read installation warning help before changing anything.
Allow the browser's installation source
On Android 8 and later, installation permission is granted to the app opening the package, usually your browser. It is not a permission you grant to Hailian before installing it.
Xiaomi / Redmi: HyperOS and MIUI
Look under Privacy & security, Special permissions or the Settings search results for Install unknown apps. Select the browser you used and review Allow from this source. If Pure mode blocks the installation, read its explanation and verify the installer source before deciding whether to allow this package. An account password may be required by the system.
Huawei: APK-compatible HarmonyOS
Check Security → More security settings → Install unknown apps, where available. Some releases also have System & updates → Pure mode. The presence of an APK installer is essential: a native HarmonyOS NEXT device cannot be assumed to support this Android package. See the illustrated HarmonyOS guide.
Honor: MagicOS
Search Settings for Download apps from external sources or Install external apps. Select the browser and review its installation permission. If an additional safety screen blocks the package, inspect the exact reason instead of treating every risk alert as the same warning.
OPPO / OnePlus / realme: ColorOS
Look under Password & security → System security → External sources, or Security → Install apps from external sources on older releases. Allow only the browser opening the verified official APK.
vivo / iQOO: OriginOS
Search for App installation, Security & privacy or Install unknown apps. The system may require account or fingerprint verification. Complete the normal verification for a source you trust rather than disabling it as a routine step.
A malware detection is not proof of a harmless false positive. Do not broadly disable harmful-app blocking or security scanning. Keep the alert and file details for support; Google Play Protect describes how Android checks apps.
Approve the VPN connection request
Open Hailian, sign in, choose a location and tap Connect. Android's Connection request identifies the app asking to create a VPN. Approve it only after checking the name. A VPN key icon while connected is normal.
Keep the client running in the background
If a connection ends when you lock the screen, review settings for Hailian specifically.
| Phone system | Auto-start / background activity | Battery policy | Recent-app protection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi / Redmi | App settings → Permissions → Auto-start | Battery → Hailian → No restrictions | Lock the Hailian card if offered |
| Huawei | App launch → manual management → review auto-launch, secondary launch and background activity | Battery optimization → all apps → Hailian → do not optimize | Pull down or lock the app card where supported |
| Honor | App launch → manual background controls | Search Battery optimization and exempt Hailian if necessary | Lock the app card where supported |
| OPPO / OnePlus / realme | App management → Hailian → power/background controls | Allow the required background activity | Lock the app card where supported |
| vivo / iQOO | App management → Hailian → auto-start | Battery → background power management | Lock the app card where supported |
These controls can reduce system interruptions; they do not guarantee that cleanup tools or the OS will never stop the VPN.
Common problems
- Account verification during installation: use the system's normal verification flow.
- Installed but pages fail: compare another location and routing mode, then read connection failure help. Samsung users have a separate DNS checklist.
- Frequent interruptions: check background restrictions and compare Wi-Fi with mobile data; see sudden disconnects.
- HarmonyOS NEXT cannot install the APK: ask support about your exact model and system. Do not assume there is a native Hailian package for that system.
