Samsung phone says VPN connected but pages will not load

If Hailian shows Connected on a Galaxy S, Z Fold, Z Flip or Note but pages fail, check the Samsung network features before reinstalling the client. Change one setting at a time so you can identify which one matters.

1. Compare Private DNS settings

A manually configured Private DNS provider can be unreachable on the current network or interact badly with the VPN's DNS routing.

  1. Open Settings → Connections → More connection settings.
  2. Open Private DNS and note the current value.
  3. Temporarily compare Automatic or Off, then disconnect and reconnect Hailian.

If a reachable numeric address works while domain names fail, DNS is worth investigating, but that comparison alone does not prove one specific cause. Restore the original setting if it makes no difference.

2. Check Samsung Secure Wi-Fi

Search Settings for Secure Wi-Fi. If it is active, compare a connection with that service stopped: another VPN-like service may conflict with Hailian's tunnel.

3. If only Chrome fails

Inspect Chrome → Settings → Privacy and security → Use secure DNS. Compare its configuration with the system DNS setting. If a temporary change does not help, restore it.

4. Review background restrictions

Open Hailian's App info → Battery and review its background allowance. Also check Battery → Background usage limits to see whether the app is in a sleeping-app list.

Try a different location or routing mode if these checks do not help. See connection failure troubleshooting, and send support the exact symptoms and relevant settings.
